About Waverly VFW Post 1272
About Us
Located in the heart of Belmont, Massachusetts, Waverly VFW Post 1272 has proudly served veterans and our local community since 1924. We are a post made up of veterans helping veterans, committed to service, camaraderie, and continuing the legacy of those who came before us.
Our Mission
As part of the national Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), our mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts, advocate for veterans’ rights, and serve our community through outreach, support, and patriotism.

A Brief History
Since its founding in 1924, VFW Post 1272 has evolved into a vital institution that honors military heritage while actively shaping community connections. For over a century, this organization has balanced ceremonial dignity, with innovative outreach: Veterans Day and Memorial Day observances attended by the community, educational programs partnered with local schools to the preservation of living history through veteran-led projects. This century-spanning legacy demonstrates how adaptive stewardship can sustain relevance across eras while maintaining core values of patriotism and mutual support.
